Peter is the Managing Director of Global Reinsurance Consultants Ltd.and has almost 20 years reinsurance experience gained with both brokers and specialist run-off consultancies. Peter's main strengths lie in: Worldwide Debt Recovery, Commutations and Effective Dispute Resolution.

Steve Goate - Head Of Reinsurance Solutions

Senior Vice President

Steve joined the Group in 1979 from Pearl Assurance and transferred to ReSolutions in 1996 where he was instrumental in creating the Company. Steve now heads up ReSolutions.

He has extensive knowledge of proportional and non-proportional business dealing with Marine, Aviation, Composite, Non-Marine, International and North American business. He has dealt extensively with all elements of APH business over the last 20 years and is a member of the environmental claims managers association. He is a Director of ASP, a member of ARC, the LMX discussion group, as well as the LPC claims/broker group, looking at opportunities to improve and streamline the London market process of which he has extensive knowledge. He is well known and respected in the London Market and is involved in all elements of marketing and business development, including client negotiation and the production of service agreements with defined standards and deadlines.

He worked as part of the RSI re-engineering team as a three-month project to streamline internal procedures.

He has travelled extensively to resolve issues and collect debt particularly in the North American market where he has established many contacts. He also has regular dealings with attorneys such as Mendes and Lord Bissell & Brook. He has also performed due diligence reviews of numerous third party clients.

Gerard Dupre - M.C.D. Consultants (Reinsurance)

Gerard Dupre is one of the partners of M.C.D. Consultants (Reinsurance), a company founded in 1998 which provide insurance and reinsurance related services to a select number of large European and North American companies. Gerard has 30 years experience in the european reinsurance market, one third of which was with the Winterthur Swiss Insurance Group. In 1990 he set up Atropos Management Services Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Winterthur Swiss, as the dedicated vehicle to run off the substantial liabilities of the solvent stamp companies of H.S.Weavers- and C.R.Driver Agencies. Gerard is skillful multi lingual negotiator who specialises in run off, dispute resolution and commutations.

Dewi James - James, Brennan & Associates

Dewi James is a UK qualified actuary and a director of James, Brennan & Associates (Legal and Actuarial consultants). He worked in the UK insurance market for 20 years as a regulator, auditor, Lloyd’s syndicate actuary and chief actuary of a reinsurance company before establishing his own business. Dewi acts as reporting expert in relation to FSMA Part 7 transfers, as scheme adjudicator and has a wide range of experience in financial modelling.

Steve Mathews - EMB

Steve Mathews is an Actuary and Senior Consultant at EMB Consultancy LLP. To date, his 12 year career has been exclusively in non-life insurance with particular specialisation in the London Insurance Market.

Steve graduated from Bristol University in 1993 with a 2:1 in Mathematics and Economics. He attained the Fellowship of the Institute of Actuaries in 1999.

Steve is the Scheme Actuary for a number of schemes of arrangement, both solvent and insolvent. He has advised clients on the commutation of inwards and outward reinsurance and on acquiring and divesting run-off portfolios. He has also assisted the appointed expert in Section VII portfolio transfers.

Steve has acted as an expert in relation to US and UK asbestos issues and has developed a sophisticated model to project future asbestos claims under UK Employers’ Liability policies. He has also assisted with expert witness work in relation to ART disputes and the Accident and Health market of the late 1990s.

Steve provides reserving, ICA and strategic advice to a number of Lloyd’s Syndicates and London Market companies and is a holder of the Lloyd’s Syndicates Practicing Certificate. He also provides pricing advice to a number of London Market entities and is a member of the London Market Actuaries Group.

Steve is a leading member of the team responsible for the development of EMB’s reinsurance analysis and visualisation software, RePro.

Julian Porter - Lambourn

Julian has worked within the insurance/reinsurance industry for over 25 years. Most recently with Capita Group as a result of their acquisition of CMGL in March 07. Within Capita Julian has responsibility for the development of consultancy services - branded as Lambourn - with whom he has been associated since 2004. Prior to this Julian spent 20 years within the Sedgwick and then Marsh empire taking on a series of management roles within Aviation and Non-Marine both current and legacy business.

Stephen Carter - Charles Russell

Stephen Carter is head of Charles Russell’s insurance and reinsurance group. On qualification in 1980, Stephen joined solicitors Reynolds Porter Chamberlain, where he handled professional indemnity insurance claims and coverage issues for insurance companies and Lloyd’s underwriters. In 1985, Stephen joined Charles Russell for the purpose of a fulltime secondment as in-house Counsel to Fenton Insurance Company and Market Runoff Services. Fenton Insurance Company was illiquid, settlement of its liabilities being facilitated by a ground breaking scheme. Market Runoff Services was one of the first companies to specialise in third party runoff management. Here Stephen was involved in advising on a wider range of matters involved in the management of insurance business.

In 1987, Stephen moved back to Charles Russell as head of its insurance and reinsurance practice. He has remained active in advising on regulatory and runoff related matters, including finality products. He is experienced in conducting international litigation and arbitration for insurers and reinsurers, in relation to which he has conducted arbitration in both the United Kingdom and the United States and has litigated in these and other jurisdictions. Stephen has also advised on the complex problems arising from pooling and agency relationships, including disputes between agents and their insurer principals.

Stephen has provided expert evidence in both US and Australian litigation on insurance law and arbitration law. He is qualified as a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He is co-chair of the International Activities Committee and country representative for the United Kingdom in the Federation of Defense and Corporate Council, a Board Member of the Association of Insurance and Reinsurance Service Providers and a member of the International Chamber of Commerce Insurance & Financial Services Commission, the International Insurance Society and the British Institute of International and Comparative Law. He is named as a leader in his field in Chambers Guide and appears in the “Guide to the World’s Leading Insurance & Reinsurance Lawyers” and “Legal Experts”.
