Winners, “Dark Side of the Prune” from Carter Perry Bailey were on form, and took the laurels and a lovely bottle each of 1er Cru Chablis as first prize.  That said, all 8 teams had a great time - I know because I asked them and their answer was certainly a genuine reflection of the racket in the room!

Great host venue for the evening was, of course, The Byward Kitchen, and huge thanks go to Nathalie, Mark and all the staff for supporting us through 4 cancelled attempts to overcome Covid Restrictions.  But, at last, undaunted, we got the Quiz up and running and all in aid of the wonderful St Martin-In-Fields Homeless Charity.

The fantastic teams all contributed to the fun and the truly impressive proceeds to the charity of £611.35.  I’ll be asking the charity to try to feature the event and the contributions from all concerned, including our raffle prize donors, The Wine Library (Lunch at the Library), Cheese at Leadenhall (private Cheese-Tasting event), David Brackenbury Associates (Gin), Byward Kitchen (Wine) and Richard King (Hotel Chocolats). Thankfully, these were all won across most of the teams.  A stunning Heads or Tails was won too, but with the majority of proceeds going to the Charity.

No one team streaked ahead or lagged too far behind, so I take it that the questions were both friendly and fiendish - and there weren’t too many appeals that my answers were wrong!  There had to be a wooden spoon team of course.  Bottles of water for them - names withheld to protect their reputations!

All in all a wonderful event and back to personal get-togethers with a bang!  Big thanks to all who attended and Tracy Bailey, our secretariat, for once again managing an event from the other side of the Channel!
